Kings of Scotland

At the beginning of the medieval age was Scotland populated by four different people. In the north lived the Picts who were native to Scotland. The south-eastern part belonged to the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Northumbria, where from the English language later spread to the Scottish lowland, and the south west part made up the Brythonic kingdom of Strathclyde. In the west had Irish Celts (also known as Scots) settled and created the kingdom of Dalriada (also called Dalratia or more properly Dál Riata). Dalriada was permanently united with Pictland in the middle of the ninth century and thus created the kingdom of Alba, later known as Scotland. Dalradia and Pictland had however been ruled by common kings Pictland before this date, these kings are shown with a Scottish flag ().
